Atletico Madrid and Athletic Club meet at Civitas Metropolitano, Madrid on Sunday, May 23 at 3:00 PM with both clubs firmly in the mix for the European places in the LaLiga. Atletico Madrid hold the advantage but neither side can afford to drop points.
Atletico Madrid come into this fixture in red-hot form (4W from last 5). Athletic Club travel in mixed form (2W 2D 1L), which may hand the initiative to the hosts.
Head-to-head records offer little separation — Atletico Madrid and Athletic Club have split their 10 meetings almost evenly (5W–0D–5W). Their last encounter ended in Atletico Madrid won 0–3.
Verdict: This looks an evenly matched contest. Home advantage gives Atletico Madrid a slight edge, but Athletic Club are capable of causing problems. A draw would be a fair result.
